Because of the Oil Crisis, the international cooperation between global south countries lost ground. Countries that produced oil used their position for political pressure, while the economic consequences of the oil crisis affected countries that didn't produce oil. Reforms led by international institutions disappeared to the background in the 1970s, while human rights and the environment became more important.
