Emergency sanitation

Guided by the Netherlands Red Cross, the Netherlands sanitation sector developed solutions for emergency situations

WASTE pioneered many innovative practices. Together with the Red Cross movement and Oxfam GB, WASTE developed solution for Emergency Sanitation.

Together with the University of Vienna, a kit for assessing faecal sludge in emergency situations was developed, funded by the Humanitarian Innovation Fund (HIF).

Together with the University of Vienna, a kit for assessing faecal sludge in emergency situations was developed funded by the Humanitarian Innovation Fund (HIF).

The emergency sanitation work of HIF attracted the attention of international NGOs such as ACTED , Solidarités Internationale (with the Octopus site) and the Government of the Netherlands (see picture visit Minister of Development Cooperation, Ploumen to WASTE’s toilet).
