A Pandemic

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the government decided to bring forward 464 million euros for development cooperation to prevent budget cuts. Out of this amount, 150 million euros will be allocated to countries to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus crisis.

In 2020, a historically small budget is allocated for development cooperation. Organizations such as Cordaid heavily criticized this decision, asserting that the development budget is also in the interest of the Netherlands itself.
